The Operation

The smiling little girl
Having lunch with a group of people, I fell to talking with a surgeon, a very interesting man. “Doctor,” I asked, “what was the greatest operation you ever performed?”
“Well,” he said, “I really don’t know. Many operations I have performed required all my skills. But perhaps the one that meant the most to me was the time I operated on a little girl who was given only a ten percent chance of survival. She was such a little thing, and so pale when they brought her into the operating room.
“At that time, I was having a great deal of trouble, myself. I had a son who was a real problem and there were other things as well. I had allowed myself to become an unhappy man. As the nurses were preparing to administer the anesthetic to this little girl, she asked, ‘Doctor, may I say something?’
” ‘Yes, honey,’ I replied. ‘What is it?’
” ‘Well,’ she said, ‘every night when I go to bed I say my prayers, and I’d like to say a prayer now.’
” ‘That’s all right, honey, please say your prayer, and think of me, too, won’t you?’
The li'l girl being operated upon
In a sweet voice she prayed:
'Jesus, tender Shepherd, hear me, Bless thy little lamb tonight;
Through the darkness be thou near me: Keep me safe till morning light.
And, dear God, please bless the doctor.' Then she added brightly, ‘I’m ready now. And I’m not afraid, because Jesus loves me and He is right here with me and is going to bring me through okay.
“I was blinded by tears,” confessed the surgeon. “I had to turn away and occupy myself with another wash up before I could start the operation. And I said, ‘Dear God, if You never help me save another human being, help me save this little girl.’
I operated on her and the miracle happened. She lived! Leaving the hospital that day, I realized that I was the one who had been operated on, not the girl. She taught me that if I take all my problems and put them in the hands of Jesus, He will see me through.”

The Pig And The Horse

There was a farmer who collected horses; he only needed one more breed to complete his collection. One day, he found out that his neighbor had the particular horse breed he needed. So, he constantly bothered his neighbor until he sold it to him. A month later, the horse became ill and he called the veterinarian, who said:

   - Well, your horse has a virus. He must take this medicine for three days. I'll come back on the 3rd day and if he's not better, we're going to have to put him down.

Nearby, the pig listened closely to their conversation.

The next day, they gave him the medicine and left. The pig approached the horse and said:

  - Be strong, my friend. Get up or else they're going to put you to sleep!

On the second day, they gave him the medicine and left. The pig came back and said:

  - Come on buddy, get up or else you're going to die! Come on, I'll help you get up. Let's go! One, two, three...

On the third day, they came to give him the medicine and the vet said:

  - Unfortunately, we're going to have to put him down tomorrow. Otherwise, the virus might spread and infect the other horses.

After they left, the pig approached the horse and said:

  - Listen pal, it's now or never! Get up, come on! Have courage! Come on! Get up! Get up! That's it, slowly! Great! Come on, one, two, three... Good, good. Now faster, come on.... Fantastic! Run, run more! Yes! Yay! Yes! You did it, you're a champion!!!

All of a sudden, the owner came back, saw the horse running in the field and began shouting:

 - It's a miracle! My horse is cured. This deserves a party. Let's kill the pig!

Points for reflection: This often happens in the workplace. Nobody truly knows which employee actually deserves the merit of success, nor who's actually contributing the necessary support to make things happen.

Poem : They Missed Him

The lamb of God

They were looking for A Lion,
He came as a Lamb, and they missed him.
They were looking for a Warrior,
He came as a Peace maker, and they missed him.

They were looking for a King,
He came as a Servant, and they missed him.
They were looking for Liberation from Rome,
He submitted to the Roman cross, and they missed him.

They were looking for a fit to their mold,
He was the mold maker, and they missed him.

What are you looking for? Lion? Warrior?
King? Liberator? What are you looking for?

They were looking for their temporal needs to be met.
He came to meet their eternal needs, and they missed him.

He came as a Lamb to be sacrificed for your sin. Will you miss him?
He came to make peace between God and man. Will you miss him?
He came to model servanthood for all mankind. Will you miss him?
He came that we might have true Liberty. Will you miss him?
He came to give you eternal life. Will you miss him?

When we submit to the Lamb we will meet the Lion.
Join with the Peacemaker and we will meet the Warrior.
Work with the Servant and we will meet the King.
Walk with the Submitted and we will meet the Liberator.
Concern ourselves with the eternal and we will have the temporal.

If Jesus is not fitting into the mold you have,
then come to the mold maker and get His new one.
Submit to His plan for your life and you will see the eternal need met first, then all the other things you have need of will be taken care of as well.

It Is Well

Someday everything will all make perfect sense, so for now laugh at the confusion, smile through the tears and keep reminding yourself that everything happens for a reason.

I Asked GOD

I asked God why I wasn't beautiful.
He showed me a woman more beautiful than any other, who was ugly because of her vanity.

I asked God why He'd allowed me to become old.
He showed me a boy of 16, who lay dead at the scene of a car accident.

I asked God why I didn't have a bigger house.
He showed me a family of six, who had just been evicted from their tiny shack, and were forced, to live on the street.

I asked God why I had to work.
He showed me a man, who couldn't find a decent job, because he'd never learned to read.

I asked God why I wasn't more popular.
He showed me a socialite with a thousand friends, who all left the moment the money and parties were no longer there.

I asked God why I wasn't smarter.
He showed me a natural born genius, serving life in prison for making ill use of his knowledge.

I asked God why He put up with a thankless sinner like me.
He showed me His Bible. He showed me His Son who took my place at the judgment.
I knew then how much He loved me.

What's eating you today?
Are your problems weighing heavy on your heart?
Know, then, that you are loved.
Have a WONDERFUL day!

Brighten someone else's day, in any way you care to.
Remember, a candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.
Just reach out and touch someone's life and brighten up his or her day.
I've been through the Storm, But Look at Me I'm Still Standing, I'm Still Here...
If it doesn't kill you... it will make you stronger.
"If you see people without a smile today, give them one of yours!"
